The Fruit of the Yew
FRUIT OF THE YEW
Grim warriors appeared, decked in iron and gold,
Their bright banners snapped in the breeze
Harvest was over, the weather was cold
Turning hot breath to cloud in the freeze.
They moved over river, and meadow and field
The peasantry scattered before
They gathered the wealth of the land on their shields
And carried it off to the shore.
"How can this happen, and where is our King?
And where are the warriors we pay?"
"Aye, the King may be King where he sits on his throne,
But his throne is four days ride away!"
Swift word was sent to the men of the woods
There'll be no trade for Winter this year.
No sacks of grain for the skin of the fox,
No ale for the flesh of the deer.
But deep in the woodlands of Wales grows a tree,
And the name of that tree is the yew.
And the fruit of the yew is a stout longbow stave
Throwing straight clothyard shafts strong and true!
They gathered in numbers from forest and fen
Walking soft as the hunting-men do,
And hung at their belts were the straight clothyard shafts
In each hand was the fruit of the yew.
And, slipping by night thru the still-burning steads,
They looked for the camp by the shore
And each made a vow, as he passed by the dead,
That the morning would even the score.
Well, morning broke clear, and the raiders awoke,
With a leisurely thought for the day
Till one showed himself, and a soft bowstring spoke,
From three hundred paces away!
And as he fell dead, a loud, taunting voice spoke
"It's a pleasure to pay you your due!"
"You came seeking all of the fruits of our land,
Have a taste of the fruit of the yew!"
What use are shields that don't cover the legs?
Or helms that don't cover the eyes?
Or shirts of bright mail 'gainst the stout clothyard shaft
That can pierce thru a stag on the fly?
The King arrived early, mud-spattered and tired,
Just to look on a field of the dead.
Cut down from the front as they stood in their line,
Cut down from the rear as they fled!
"And where are the men that have done me this deed?"
Asked the King, from his horse ridden lame,
"'Twas outlaws and brigands from back in the woods,
They've since fled back whence they all came."
"And would they take Pardon, and live in my Peace?"
Asked the King of his Councilor true,
Said the Councilor, "Nay, they're a quarrelsome lot;
They'll not become lawful for you."
Raiders, take heed to the gist of my tale
(It may lengthen your lives, if you will!)
When you go a-reavin' be sure of your mark!
Take care that it matches your skill!
For England pays silver, and Spain will give gold,
And France will grant land, that is true,
But seek not for wealth in the woodlands of Wales,
For THEY pay in the fruit of the yew!
Iphone
I have to admit I was sceptical, but iphones are awesome sauce. Also, Iphone tracker for those of us who are....forgetful.

Pick Up Lines:
If we were rolling percentiles, you would be a 98
I think my heart just lagged
What's your sine? It must be pi/2 because you're the 1
Let's meet up somewhere, you bring your beaker and I'll bring my stirring rod.
My heart gets +12 Celerity whenever you come out of Obfuscate.
I'm the droid you're looking for.
You and I are as easy as one plus one equals Awesome.
At absolute zero, you would still move me.
See my friend over there? She wants to know if you think I'm cute.

Pax
I bought my tickets to Pax!!!! sooooo excited!
For all of you who do not know what Pax is FOR SHAME.
It is only the largest gaming convention in North America. 50 000 nerds in one building.
Imagine, will you, a whole section of the Washington Trade Center dedicated to beanie bag chairs and handhelds.
Where else do you get to shake hands with Will Wheaton, Jonathon Coulton etc? The place is amazing and fun and SO COOL.
Once, during my first year at Pax, my ex described is as
"And when you walk through those doors, it's like.. it's like coming home."

What a weekend!
So yeah, I went to a Masquerade on sat. After working all afternoon, I came home and got ready for the Ball. Clothed in a 16th Century, hand made, period Gown and Cloak, I went to Ball.
The evening was fun. I got to dance most of the dances; drink, sing and be merry. At the end of the night I was so tired that I asked Karen if I could just crash on her couch.
Sunday morning dawned and I gathered my purse and cloak and headed home to change. I worked in an hour and a half.Unfortunately, I discovered that I had locked myself out! I had work in an hour at this point, so I got on the bus and went downtown to buy some shorts with my last 10$. (I had a mens period shirt in my purse)
So yeah, 11 am, sunday morning I show up to work (my janitor job) in my 16th century ball gown, then prompty change into mens cloths and start the day. Luckily I had Larp that night.
So after working until 5ish, I caught the bus up to Uvic for Games Night. When around midnight rolls alone, I walk home to find my roommate still not home, my neighbors sleeping.
During Larp, Peter suggested that I can come over to his place. I head over there and curl up on his stairs and fall asleep. Luckily he got back from game an hour or so later and let me in to sleep on his couch. I say lucky cause it started to rain shortly after that.
So I wake up this morning, walk home, and sit in the lobby for two hours until my roommate got home. Finally I could change out of my Ball Gown! I am just about to head off to shower. I am tired, and sore and cranky and cold - but I think everything will be better after my hot shower :)

Winter has Come
I don't know about you folks, but the new Game of Thrones TV series has been all the talk amongst my nerdy crowd. After watching the first episode, I think we can all agree that George R.R. Martin can be proud. Yes they cut out some minor details, but in this episode they have stayed true to the story, and I am excited to see what comes next week. :)

Mortal Kombat Revisited
I was scouring the internet today when I came across the darndest thing: Mortal Kombat Legacy, a new live action webseries created by Machinima. I've always enjoyed Machinima creations, such as Freeman's Mind and Game Cubed. They have a whole variety of wonderfully animated bits that you could spend - and probably have - hours browsing through.
The latest series uploaded to youtube by Machinima is: Mortal Kombat Legacy, an action packed short video twebseries following, of course, the Mortal Kombat game, is too short to tell yet how well it will do. Luckily, I have faith in our Machinima crew. The actors in MKL are as surprising as they are perfect. Michael Jai White, whose other roles include Jambol from the Dark Knight, the Black Dynamite from The Black Dynamite, and even Jackson Briggs from the video short Mortal Kombat Rebirth. Kurtis Stryker, played by one Tahmoh Penikett (our favorite Captain Karl 'Helo' Agathon) is a well known actor himself. From the O.C., Two and A Half Men, and Star Trek Voyager we have the lovely Jeri Ryan as her second time playing Sonya Blade. And Kano is played by Darren Shahlavi, coming from one of my favorite TV shows: Sanctuary.
With this fun loving crew, the first episode of MKL came out wonderful. I particularly like the camera action as it goes along with the scene. If a character is waking up, the camera is blurry then comes into focus, if there is an action sequence, the camera stays on the characters and allows you to actually see what is going on. There is, of course, a lot of action going on.
The first episode starts with Sonya scoping out a factory, where Kano and his gain are making elite materials from stolen Department of Defense schematics. The rest of the team hear her via her communicator, and decide to skip protocol and gear up to provide back up. After they arrive a battle of guns, knives, and martial arts breaks out, quickly followed to the classic 'chase the villian now running away' scene. I was sad when it ended.
So far the story has been wonderfully filmed and delicately pieced together to form a wonderful series. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did my Darlings.
Have fun

Sigh
Have you ever had a day where two things get scheduled, and you don't know which one to go to? Well, today I had a Youth Group retreat - that I was in charge of, a MERP game with my friends, a Pathfinder game with some OTHER friends. I am in the middle of scheduling a tourist trip for a friend of mine stopping in Victoria this week, I was stressed over the election last fri - that I lost by 15 votes :3 - and my phone is broken, so I have no way of contacting people.
What a busy week, and that's WITHOUT a full time job!

Gunnerkrigg Court
Gunnerkrigg Court is an amazing webcomic by Tom Siddell, about a young girl named Antimony Carver.
Antimony is a mediator, and can talk to spirits and the supernatural; her school, Gunnerkrigg Court, is separated from an enchanted and very powerful forest by a mere creak. Throughout the story Antimony faces off with Dragons, ghosts, robots, and a variety of gods - from all different religions.
Antimony's best friend Kat is a mechanic. She is very analytical in nature - not so easy living beside a forest of phenomena that cannot be explained. Kat at one point finds a hidden room of robots with no power switch or circuit board, turns them on, and watches them reenact a play.
Throughout the story of Gunnerkrigg Court, it is obvious that something is different about this industrial-like school. What with the magic, mystery and mayhem going on, it isn't unlikely you might get in reading it and never want to put it down ;)

I love Science
I am always scoping for new and fun scientific songs. This here is one of my favorites:
Face palm
...and I said, I said to him, "your logic is phalic... I mean FALLIBLE. Your logic is FALLIBLE!"
..."That definitely costs less than a twoonie!"

Thank You Krombie!
A man was found guilty of using too many commas; the judge gave him a really long sentence.
I salute you Mario enthusiast!
This guy, spent the time and energy to slow down and commit save checks so he could simultaneously play four mario games at once. He comes close to death many times, and the time and energy this must have taken is amazing.
I salute you!

Sometimes I am overwhelmed by the Ignorance of my Peers -
Is it hard to be a virtuous person? What is virtue? Does virtue happen with or without intent? If I overcome my nature to do the right thing, does that mean I am not virtuous?
These arejust some of the questions asked in todays discussion. What really boggles my mind are the less... philosophical questions. Repeating a sentence from the text, than using the same sentence to answer your questions- sometime I am left off balance.
When one of my classmates says that he does not like luck, and instead favors fate. Of course we ask this peer, what is fate? His responce is predestined action. That the moment is going to happened because it is planned...
THEN
the same student goes on to say that the reason he likes fate is because it is constantly changing and that you can determine your own fate by making choices...
So, fate is a predestined decision that isn't predestined at all cause you can change the outcome.
Makes perfect sense to me.

Solutions for the Win
Last week I posted that I was running for Lansdowne Director and I was having some...problems with my oppositions dirty tricks. BUT, one of my friends has found a brilliant solution!
Why don't I post something on an open forum or boardway or billboard or something saying something along these lines-
"To all those who saw my canvasing last week, please note that they were vandalized, and that I am in fact an independent running for Lansdowne Director. I am not apart of any slate. Sorry for the inconvenience, I hope it wont happen again."
And then my logo. Thank you so much Brent, you are a genius!

Magicka
I love this game. I was introduced to Magicka last night and I could play for hours. You start off by choosing a character in outfit and color, then set off into the world of dungeons and dragons, heros and villians, wizards and vampires... well, just wizards. And a wizard is just what you are.
What I particularly like is the voices and characters and how I've tended to describe them is 'It's like the Swedish Chef meets Dungeons & Dragons.
You play a wizard who can harness the power of the elements, and can combine them to create new and powerful spells. My favorite is playing with two people, because the spells effect you and your companion and it is nigh on impossible to keep from killing each other constantly throughout game play. At one point in the game I received the achievement "Oh gravity, thou are a heartless bitch". Falling and me became fast friends :)
I would suggest Magicka to anyone who likes humor, sarcasm, wit, adventure, rpg games. And anyone who is looking for something colorful and fun.
Enjoy Darlings.

Campaign Sadness - oh politics
I am currently running for the Lansdowne Director position at my school, and I am coming up again many moral and ethical conundrums on the way. At the beginning I told the two opposing parties that I wanted nothing to do with their... not so fun campaigning tactics. I wanted to be open about what i stood for and hope that people would vote for me by my platform - not simply a popularity contest.
Now I am faced with the choice to join in the negative atmosphere or tuck away my morals.
A few days back I started my visual campaign. The Power to Vote slate simply put a whole bunch of power on symbols all over campus. This means that it is very recognizable, but I and others still know nothing about what they are actually trying to accomplish. Sahra and Kelly and Rene and Hayley - the other slate, printed off small posters to put up with long lists about what they plan to do.
I took a different approach. I bought a box of colorful chalk and WROTE OUT MY PLATFORM AROUND CAMPUS. If there was space I would write 'I plan to host more events, advertise information networking so people can learn what is happening on campus, start a forum of events, petition for security cameras for the bike area..." etc.
All around the sidewalks and concrete walls, I wrote this and my slogan "Jaz Up Your Campus" Then for good measure I drew my Logo (two hands making a heart with 'clean campaigning' written on the side).
Where my problem comes in is this: Yesterday my friend Sahra came up to me in a tizzy when she found that the Power on to Vote had defaced my writing.
Turns out after I wrote out all my campaigning things a member of Power On went around drawing a big Power On symbol where I had canvassed. As in, I write Clean Campaigning on a wall, and they went up to it and put their symbol next to my name.
What do I do? They are making it seem like I am 'with them', when I am an independent. I don't wanna join the politics by bringing this up to Tag - the rule maker - but I can't just let them deface my campaign.
I don't want to think negatively about Power On, or Purple (the other group) they are just getting out of hand. But if I lose, how can I LET a group into power if they do so by mudslinging, cheating, and sabotaging all those who are 'against them'?
Their Leader is very scary in the 'if you aren't with us, you're against us' kinda fashion. He also tried to convince me to join his slate not by telling me what he stands for, but by telling me that his team is the winner, and everyone else is the loser, and the only way i can get in is by joining him.
I have tried walking away and letting Power On and Purple get angry with each other. Power On cheats, then Purple takes offense and mudslings, then it all goes down hill with them. What do I do when I walk away and still they come and mess up all my hard work?
I spent hours on my hands and knees in the gravel writing out what I stand for... only to have them claim it for Power On with a quick tagging of their logo. Do I stand true to my ignoring them and standing up for clean campaigning, or do I create a negative feel between all the people on that slate and chew them out for it?
I am so confused...

Merp today
Today we - the party - are left to take down the people strung up in spider cocoons, and to figure out where the elven prince is. While we got closer to the spiders we notice one is still alive. An old codger of a spider sits there grumbling in the trees about stupid young spiders and how he'll pack up his shinny's and head south to the big house.
I use my persuasive charm to convince the spider that, if he lowers the prisoners, we will let him live.
As soon as our first cocoon lowers to the ground, Grey, Thumbs as I untangle the web.
Ali : "Oh! It's a dwarf! Is he ok? Is he alive? - "
Thumbs "- is he handsome?"
unfortunately it turned out the dwarf was quite old and ugly. Ali goes to forage for healing herbs and fallen weapons and stuff. She comes across this comfy moss and gathers it up and takes it to the came for the unconscious survivors to lay on. Unbeknown to her it is forget me moss. It's really hard to ask a group of people what happened to them when they have been passed out on amnesia inducing plants I must tell you. Luckily the old Dwarf woke up early enough to prevent TOO much damage.
Of course, as soon as a the prisoners were lowered Tamerin shot the shit out of that spider - paranoid and arachnophobia as he is. Now we are divvying up our loot. :) Yay! :)

4th Ed Fun
This week I was invited to join a D&D campaign a few blocks from my merp. Now I have merp from noon to 4, then 4th ed from 4 till 6. I love Saturdays :)
So during my 4th ed, I joined my group just as they were coming up again this big ass dragonith thing. After over an hour, all my encounters, and a great deal of War Crys late we defeated the thing.
Now, the Drac thing had a draconian gold bracelet on its ankle, and of course the dragon-born was SURE he had a right to it. Of course the rest of us took exception. I took the intelligent path and let my companions fight for it... and while they were busy stole the anklet. :)
Quest well done.

Now, the Drac thing had a draconian gold bracelet on its ankle, and of course the dragon-born was SURE he had a right to it. Of course the rest of us took exception. I took the intelligent path and let my companions fight for it... and while they were busy stole the anklet. :)
Quest well done.

I know I haven't been updating as often - its midterm week :P - so here's a fun band you can enjoy while I go off and study the philosophical myths of science, a good life, virtue, freedom, and education.

Who am I?
Where did I go?
These last few months ago I stopped... being. I stopped taking pleasure in the things I love, and pursuing the things I was interested with any fervor.
Monday I issued a petty comment, yesterday I borrowed money, today I sat in the back of the classroom.
This week a girl I don't remember said that I hate her and have actively done so since highschool. High School where I met her maybe once and I have nothing but good to say of my memories of her.
What is happening to me? I don't like where this is going.

Trouble on the Horizon
So our government has decided, for a reason that truly escapes me, to cut the funding for a large majority of our college. Cleaning staff, teachers, regular staff, programs... everything is being effected in some sense. The official walk out is on wed, a day I don't even have day classes, so in my place if anyone wants to protest feel free to hop on the bus and head down to the parliament buildings.
This funding cut will leave teachers and staff out on the streets. Our nursing program, one of the largest on the island, is being cut in half. Whole buildings are being left unattended as janitors and repair men are being let go. At the moment, one man is now responsible for cleaning two whole buildings.
I'm not going to tell you this is outrageous - you are intelligent people (I know this because you are reading my blog, thus you must be intelligent :)

YouTube - NERD ALERT - SCV Love Song - Original Song (Ft KurtHugoSchneider / HuskyStarcraft)
I love this song. It's always interesting when I go online and find something new and nerdy that I can relate to.
Sometimes I imagine a world where nerdy references are apparent in average everyday songs, like Online or Don't laugh at me. It's funny that the most often played nerdy songs on the radio are country songs. :)

A rough elaboration of Italian Poetry.
Our class was given an iambic pentameter to translate for Italian. And by translate I mean find words in english that correspond well with the Italian words... no actual translation. Here is my deciphering:
Irregular Translation.
Here the graceless sing and scold the sparrow,
for his puling song fractured graceless day.
Quarreled fools who preserve a guarded state,
and shame by voice that strewn and weaned lost heart.
So tempt not maid who ‘pears deft to repair
when counters to comply do arm and mount.
Secure a sensible and once made guide.
No commune colors eyes incoming rows.
So prove to me the armor dealt’s disarm’d,
apart of vice from cloaking add courage.
By shade and grime and sophists use of verse,
for all my part, no life and honors rate.
Fear reared and made seats into quarreled state.
A voice when armed, no monsters pure lark knows.

The raping of Nuns
I don't know about you, but sometimes when I'm with...cough... CERTAIN friends, the topic of discussion veers off into entirely unexpected regions of inappropriate. Today was such a day when Kelly and Jeremy were discussing jokes told about Nuns and sex. It wasn't pretty.
One line I will post, because it was by for the most inappropriate of all, was
"If I rape a nun, a leprechaun will jump out of her ass.... and cure my AIDS"
I love my friends, I really do.

Sail Part 2, recap
So last thurs I went sailing, and left off just before the milk fiasco! As we were sailing during the morning it was a lot of to-do: tour this and show that and check out this. Finally, around lunch time, we slowed right down and headed on up for a nice spaghetti and / or hot-dog snack. During the morning, we were supposed to have the machine gun drills, the 450 cals. attached the sides of the vessel. Unfortunately it was delayed, which meant it didn't start until the middle of lunch time. I don't know about you, but I think it hilarious when half the people eating on deck jump out of their skins every 3 mins when the guns go off.
Afterwards it was a good hour till the next show-off drill, so we went on down to the Chiefs ad PO's mess. The mess is a beautiful lounge with flat screen tvs, a mini bar, couches, some tables to sit and eat at, and a window opening directly into the galley to get food stuffs. The mess is a rotation job that everyone is assigned at one point, but today it was fun by Hall, a cool young cat who volunteered so another could take the time off. Hall was in his twenties, lanky, had tattoos, and plays the guitar - in effect, the perfect man for my godsister. Needless to say we picked on her mercilessly.
About an hour of chatting away and watching YTV, the whistle called for the next demonstration: The Man-Over-Board. We headed on up. Now, in order to collect a man over board, the boat must turn completely around and have him out of the water in under 5 mins. I don't know about you, but turning in a boat going 35 knots is incredibly fun. To illustrate the process, here is a man standing straight on the boat while level : l
a man standing up straight on a boat turning is standing like \ and the more sharp the turn the more diagonal you stand. Walking down hallways almost sideways is really fun.
So we get up top and rescue the man over board in 4 mins something seconds. Then a helicopter circles us and shows us how they lower and pull up people in ropes for search and rescue missions. Pretty cool, took some pictures, then headed back down.
Amusingly enough we find Hall in the.. well, the hall out side the Chiefs and PO's mess leading a group of big guys carrying the milk machine from the mess. Apparently, Hall tells us, almost immediately after we left the milk machine decided that being bolted to a wall was stupid, and that it would rip off its hinges and fly to safety.
Seriously.
This machine was the size of a two and a half microwaves. It was big. Luckily enough it missed all three people standing around it and hit an opposite wall undeterred. It was still pretty awesome.
For those of you wondering: it actually stayed intact. Their was a dent in it the size of andre the giants fist, but it was still intact.
The rest of the day was beautiful and amusing. Naps were taken and shows were watched and then it rained a fuck ton of rain/hail victoria weather with cold winds and bogusness.
we docked in the rain, walked home in the rain, and dried off out of the rain. My dry jacket spent maybe 8 mins-10 mins out side and it was soaked through as if I'd dropped it in the ocean.
Well, it was a certainly amusing adventure :)

Day Sail Part One
I title this post Part One because I just got home from a sail that made me get up at 6, board at 8, go out to sea till 3:30, then get ready and go to teach a lesson and socialize at youth group.
Seriously, aside from my youth group prep time, this is the first I've been able to sit down. I don't count sitting while socializing on Ottawa while out at sea.
So: waking up and getting there.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Bob. I will not meet Bob for some time yet, but Bob is the weather guy for the navy ship Ottawa. When the navy planned a family day aboard ship, they didn't really factor in the weather. If they have to sail in rain... it's Victoria. In Victoria the weather is like a woman in a shoe store where all the shoes are on sale and she's only allowed to pick one. It changes it's mind. Frequently.
So on this fateful day, when my godfather invited me to tour the ship as one of the family, Bob the Weather Guy stated that it would be overcast, dreary, raining, and all around miserable.
It was gorgeous. The water was smooth, the wind just right, the sun shining, and almost no clouds as we set sail up the west coast. During the drills: man over board, helicopter search and rescue, machine gun firing, anything that made us come up from the safety of the bowls of the ship into the warm and wonderful weather, it was glorious.
My godfather often picks on Bob for a reason.
Anyway, so we head out into this beautiful day by watching the ships hand raise the flag. Unfortunately the mike broke, so when the Capt'n stood up to tell us safety measures and his opening welcome speech most of us couldn't hear it. Luckily our family members clued us in after.
My godfather, Martin, works onboard navy ships in the Top Secret, Limited/Restricted Access, Communications Center and Radio. He takes and decodes military, airforce and navy radio signals and passes them on to those who need to know such things. Of the people on his ship of approx 100, only a handful have seen his office... and for today only, so did his family.
We toured the operations room and his work spot. Then he gave us the run down of his work. All over the place Top Secret, Secret, Restricted, and other forms of 'Don't touch us we are important' stickers where posted up on machines and desks. In the corner sat Martins desk, with a big hammer.
The Hammers name was Hammer of Stupid Questions.
Imagine decoding messages, receiving file after file, while your peers constantly come up to you with questions. You ask yourself, 'is this a question worth my time?', 'does this question take priority over top secret government messages?', 'Are you an idiot?', and so forth.
Luckily, if these questions are running through your mind, you have a solution: The Hammer of Stupid Questions. At any point during this onslaught of meaningless questions, the message receiver can pick up his hammer and bang it on his desk. It pretty much means "Fuck off, I'm Working."
After doing our fun tour, of which I can tell you no more than that there is a room with lots of "Secret" stickers, and a Hammer that smites stupid questions, we head up to the deck to hoist the flags.
Martin has two daughters, Meara and Faith, and two goddaughters, Me and Amber, and his wife Nikki along on the boat today. Of his daughters, I'm a PO2 from 6 years ago before I left sea cadets, Meara is Able Cadet, Amber is a Sargent (i think...), and Faith, little navy league Faith, is a PO1.
If this means nothing to you then lets just say if all my sisters and martin were on the same ship and the same age, then Faith is the highest rank. Even higher than Martin.
Of course her rank is a navy league rank where her age group is from 9 to 12, and she'll have to start over in Sea Cadets and or whichever Core she goes into, but for this moment, in her little uniform, it's fun to think that my 10 year old sister outranked us all.
I will recount the tale of a flying Milk machine tomorrow. It's a good one. :)

Vote For Me
Hey guys,
So I met a new friend a while back, Michael, and he sat with me in utter awe as student after student, worker after worker, janitor, teacher, society member and a few internation students came up for hugs. I love people, and I know a lot of them. By the end of the hour I had socialized with 50 people from different walks of life. Michael, a student society leader, turned to me after he finished eating and asked if how I knew all these people. I, of course, just shrugged and went back to reading.
Michael continued to hang out with me for a few days before asking if I'd run for the student society board. After much thought, meeting all my few members, and hearing about what they wanna do for the college I thought that it was a great opportunity to watch things change for the good.
Now I'm running for Lansdowne Director. Vote for Pedro - I mean Jaz.
Love you darlings, hope to see you at the voting polls!

My Fridge, a safe haven for bacteria
So yes, in an act of... well, attempting to bring you more of myself and less a random upload of crazy awesome videos, I made the mistake of asking my roommate what I should write about. He replied "With the contents of your fridge."
So here is such an account. Those of you clamoring for more Jaz should now take satisfaction, as I have
brie cheese
minute maid lemonaide
condiments (sooo many condiments)
bacon
lettuce
sour cream
milk
and pork, minced

During my flu two weeks ago ~ Nietzsche
I love Nietzsche, I love the passion, the pompousness, the charisma and his witty way of writing. I am also a very loud obnoxious person, so when discussion starts up and I have nothing to say, barely any retorts and only the most measly attempt at conversation leads me to believe that I am sick. There is almost no circumstance in which I will not passionately debate a favorite topic, and as Nadia has just said to me, we should be expecting the Rapture.
So call your heathen petsitters folks, because if I'm not sick than they will soon be taking care of your beloved scruffy.

Professor Layton
I do not know if you have had the pleasure of playing French games before, dear readers, but believe me when I way they have amazing stories and graphics. Not only that, but they are often set in amusing, alternate realities where mystery and mayhem reign supreme!
Such is the case with Professor Layton. The game revolves around the intelligent, problem and puzzle solving professor and his young pupil Luke as they solve mysterious puzzles around Sci-fi, fantasy, time travel, drug induced hallucinations, and utter chaos.
There have been a few released games for PC and Game Boy DS, and worth whatever you may need to pay for them.
As a wonderful game of intrigue and art and humor, don't pass up the opportunity to experience the wonder and entertainment of this puzzle mystery game.

Snore
What does it mean when you wake up at 9 am and don't get up till 1:30?
The answer: a glomp from a 6'1 strong and determined boyfriend who doesn't want to loose a snuggle buddy.
Sigh, I'm so accommodating...

Party to Insanity
Tonight at the party at Wrens house we broke open our bottles and grabbed our coconuts and limed the shit out of those little umbrellas and plastic swords. Wren had pre-sliced coconut husks to fill with mango and vodka and sliced lime. It was awesome and amazing and the talk was off the wall. Unfortunately my darling forgot to take his meds and we went home early... BUT this meant a long snuggle bubble bath and video games and some nice reading before bed.
Some wonderful things suggested to me at the party were http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/ - a collection of amusing stories about ones childhood, and

Merp Feb 26
So in Merp today we went up against ...15 murkwood spiders? It was some huge number. At this point I learned the unfortunate side effect of being a melee based character - that when you opponents are far away your teammates get to shoot at them 3-4 times before you can reach them to actually fight them head on.
When I realized I'd be standing with a whole bunch of archers until those spiders came out of the forest (we didn't know how many there were, and so we stayed close to the elf fire), I decided that instead of just sitting around doing nothing I would break out in my spider song that I wrote last week. Luckily I am a handler of animals, the spiders speak a very accented common, and I was paying attention, I noticed that these spiders were laughing hysterically at my song. They LIKED that I was singing about them in a winning scenario.
Now, at this point some of the spiders conversed amongst themselves and said we were okay... until the paranoid Tamerin decided to shoot one while it they were coming to this decision... eh voila: intent giant spider formation and attack.
I keep singing while, turn after turn, the archers shoot, then we all spot check, then we move forward. In all this hubbub I finally get a chance to make up for my lack of action... a mace a spider so hard in the leg that it's heart stops and HE DIES.
My compatriots dismember a few others. Now, we are fighting spiders... in all the shots we took in the span of TWO HOURS of fighting these things, only two times near the end of the battle did anyone NOT hit a leg as a critical.
This became absolutely ludicrous in predictability. And at one point the whole party was laughing our asses off at Tamerin - who rolled over a 100 for every hit...and whose critical never breached 6. Not only did he only hit legs, but it didn't effect the actual play, only the creatures hit points.
At one point Basil, our insanely apathetic dwarf scientist gets poisoned, then administers his slow acting poison serum.. now we have defeated our foe's and must save him from unconsciousness and death!

10 Reasons to Date a Geeky Girl
I was browsing the web when I read this link, and I thought to myself - what 10 reasons could I come up with. So, here for you darlings I have composed my list of perks that come with your geeky girlfriends.

9. She probably has great taste in music, from Johnathon Coulton to Freezepop
8. She can supply tasty sustenance for any RPG, and make all your character sheets legible. Yay cookies!
7. She is just as smart, and smarter in some fields, than you are. Imagine not having to explain every concept, or every word thats longer than three syllables.
6. Someone to snuggle with while you play video games, consequently she may kick your ass - but the snuggles are worth it!
5. Someone who wont look twice at you screaming bloody murder at your consoles... she understands.
4. Someone adorable - all geek girls are adorable by default - who you can brag to your friends about.
3. Someone who gets all your jokes
2. three words: Cosplay, Fantasy, Roleplaying

Now, when you live butt the fuck out in the middle of nowhere, with no one to force you to do your homework and much of the time no TV, then you will get something like my brother and I. When we were first brought into the crazy world of society and city life, I took to socializing like a glove - an over sized, beaten at the edge, bright bright neon glove with more awkwardness than a retarded turtle - but I TRIED. I went out and read countless books, and watched TV, hung out with like minded people, and after some trial and error, I made it to the otaku, and now geek, status.
My brother on the other hand, was still a little to young and shy to adapt into anything, and try as he might, his sense of fair play and honor made it really hard. Kalem hates cheaters. If someone does something that is morally bad in his eyes, he cant help but WANT to help. If someone is in an abusive relationship, he break it; if someone is doing drugs, he stops hanging out with them; if someone says something unkind about someone else, if they steal, if they drink, if they lie... well, he just can't hang out with them, and he will tell them so.
This is why I am so proud of him today, because despite his troubles and bullying and immense obstacles, he is growing up. He is starting to read and write and get out, even a little. He found sanctuary in his video games, and a place for himself in life.

There She Is
A few years ago my ex-boyfriend sat me down and showed me this; There She Is. I fell instantly in love and waited on the edge of my seat for the next installment. The animation is Korean and adorable, in an art style that blew my mind then as it blows my mind now. All the characters are wonderful and develop throughout the short amvs, each coming to grips with a racist/specist/bigoted world around them differently. It is an absolute jewel, and I recommend it for anyone looking for a smile or a deep and striking truth. Enjoy darlings.
Supervillains New Years Resolutions
Many people have heard the 'Mario Kart Love Song' written sung by Blinktwice4y on youtube, but few have heard my favorite song by him 'The Superhero Song'. I love this because it shows a huge amount of emotion and understanding from a super villain who has grown up, and realized that all the things he was fighting for weren't what he really wanted after all. It always makes me feel maudlin and contemplative, and I hope it makes you think about the evolution of Super villain psychology.
Black Nerd
I don't know if you've had the 'pleasure' of watching or hearing a Black Nerd Comedy song darlings, but it is certainly an... experience. What the man lacks in vocal abilities, he makes up for in awesome lyrics and good wholesome amusement. If you haven't had a chance to hear him, check him out below.
I hope you enjoy darlings :3

Rick Ashley, we love you...
Rick Astley called me up and asked to borrow some of my Pixar movies. I said, " Sure, you can have Toy Story 2 and Monsters Inc, but I'm never gonna give you UP!"

Locked Out
So while the commemoration of Zelda's 25 anniversary had originally been the only post planned for today, I currently find myself locked out of the apartment and am bored. As a further note to Zelda, I have searched the google images page for my ToP 10 Zelda Cosplay Pics..
Here they are dear readers!
